Directed Studies

Directed Studies students in the Social Health Lab are expected to be able to generate hypotheses, collect and analyze data, and write a scientific report, with minimal supervision. Therefore, priority will be given to students who have volunteered in our lab for at least nine months (i.e., two winter terms, or one winter term plus two summer terms) who have shown outstanding analytical, writing, and leadership potential. However, we are occasionally able to offer a Directed Studies position to students with prior experience in other research labs and who have outstanding writing skills.

If you are interested in Directed Studies but have not previously volunteered in the Social Health Lab, please:

1) indicate your interest in Directed Studies on your application form
2) include on your CV/resume at least one reference who can comment on your prior research lab experience
3) include an academic writing sample with your application (for example, a research report or final paper completed for a course such as PSYC217, PSYC260 or PSYC366).

See here for further information on Directed Studies.
