Julia Nakamura successfully defended her PhD dissertation!
In her dissertation, Julia examined tradeoffs and diversity in the time that people spend doing different daily activities (such as volunteering, informal helping, eating and drinking, sleeping, and leisure), and associations with well-being and self-reported health. She also examined associations between the diversity of recipients to whom people directed their daily acts of kindness, and their social network outcomes.
Julia will be starting a postdoctoral position at Harvard University in January 2026.
We will miss you, Julia, and we wish you the best of luck!
