Charlotte Roddick’s scoping review on heart rate variability (HRV) recovery from psychological stress has been published in Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews

Together with former research assistants, Christine Seo, Shan-Li Barkovich, and Luke Forrester, Charlotte conducted a systematic scoping review of nearly 300 studies on vagally mediated heart rate variability (vmHRV) recovery. The article highlights how individual differences (such as resilience and emotion regulation) and situational factors (such as exposure to nature) contribute to more effective recovery, while blunted recovery is linked to higher risk for depression and cardiovascular disease.

The review also outlines recommendations to standardize methods in vmHRV recovery research, to help improve consistency and comparability across studies.
